Tim Fulton is a nationally recognized small business consultant and advocate. He has been involved in the field of Entrepreneurship for the past thirty years as a successful business owner, a small business counselor, and as an adjunct university professor. In 1994, he started Small Business Matters, an independent management consulting and training practice. During this time he has worked with companies such as Lucent Technologies, Carlson Companies, Insignia ESG, and Georgia Power.
Tims past work experience also includes serving
as the assistant director of the Small Business Development Center
at Clayton State University and the Director of the Family Business
Institute at Florida International University. He has worked with
thousands of business start-ups and existing business entities as a
catalyst for starting and growing their business enterprise.
Tims own entrepreneurial experience includes the ownership and operation of several fast-growing retail and service businesses. Each of which resulted in successful M&A opportunities. In addition, he was one of the founders of a successful Atlanta-based INC 500 internet software company.
In my conversation with Tim, we rewind all the way back to his first business, fresh out of college. Instead of taking his MBA to Wall Street like most of his friends, he went to run a fledgling, on the brink of failure, tire and auto repair shop. By leading by example and rolling up his sleeves to do the dirty work, Tim turned around, scaled and sold the business within five years. It was so much fun, he did that several more times before taking his experience and helping small business owners all over the world.
